Garcinia mangostana L. (Clusiaceae) is a tree found in Sri Lanka and other South East Asian countries, which is very popular due to its delicious fruits. Medicinal uses such as for the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, skin infections and as an anti-inflammatory agent are reported. Extensive chemical investigations have been conducted on the fruit hull and the leaves of G. mangostana.
