Multivitamins and Minerals May Improve Mental Health in Elderly
A double-blind placebo-controlled trial was recently conducted to determine the effects of nutritional support on depressive symptoms and cognitive function in older patients. The results showed that a daily multivitamin and mineral positively impacted the depressive symptoms of hospitalized acutely ill older people. There was no evidence of a difference in cognitive function scores at 6 months. More research would help to confirm these findings.
